Famed rocker and super-lithe culture-straddler Lenny Kravitz wholeheartedly recommends L’As du Fallafel, the roisterous, Israeli-style sit-down falafel stand on the Right Bank. All the best dishes are here, the lamb, the hummus, the sweet-roasted aubergine salad, the delightfully charred chicken schwarama, and not least, the tiny, delectably deep-fried balls of mashed chickpeas.
Open since 1979, the hundred-seat venue has been packing in 300-to-500 diners per night. Manager Guy Settbon has even put a rope outside, and he staffs a minimum of three unfailingly polite, hilarious doormen/hawkers out in front of the joint per evening, in order to deal with the crush.
