Among the Himalayan mountains in the Kashmir valley lives a community of nomads. They move across the land in search of greener pastures for their livestock, devoting much of their time to family and faith. Just outside of the state’s largest city Srinagar, these families live in temporary camps, which can be packed up and carried on horseback through the valleys and mountains of the region.
Although the region remains a disputed territory, the daily experiences and lifestyles of the Kashmiri nomads are tied with tradition and sustain a great sense of community.
