Chris Rock brought his latest project which he writes and directs to the Toronto International Film Festival, where he sparked a fierce bidding war. Understandably. Rocks comedy is a biting commentary on the entertainment industry, and is packed to the brim with dozens of famous faces whod cut together into an all-star trailer that should guarantee a huge opening weekend. Its also a relentlessly filthy and unbearably entertaining crowd-pleaser that actually needs to be seen in a theater with a lathered-up group. Something tells me the exact same jokes in Top Five will be 50% less funnier if you are watching them in your quiet living room on Netflix. But in a packed house loaded with rollicking Rock fans, Top Five has palpable energy.
