While no one in their right musical mind can ever debate the impact that hip-hop has had on the world, there is still a sense that many just don’t get it, especially during this time of year when Grammy nominations and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are announced.
Most rap fans have come to accept it, so we just shrugged when the Grammy committee failed to recognize YG’s My Krazy Life and then again on Tuesday (Dec. 16) when N.W.A. was once again left out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The iconic and pioneering group became eligible last year after their classic debut Straight Outta Compton turned 25 years old.
