We had the opportunity to find out, as the American Ballet Theatre invited us to really see how its production of Alexei Ratmansky's The Nutcracker comes to life behind the scenes. Following the two dancers who play Clara in this version of the ballet (the part is dually played by a child and an adult in Ratmansky's tale), we journeyed from ABT's studios in Manhattan's Flatiron District to Brooklyn for the final dress rehearsal, where the production would debut at Brooklyn Academy of Music that night.
