Beauty giant Revlon just did something revolutionary: The brand has vowed to eliminate some of the most toxic chemicals—including a number of carcinogens—from its makeup and hair products.
"After defending its use of carcinogens, Revlon reformulates to stake a claim in the growing safe cosmetics market," the company said in a statement.
Today's announcement comes on the heels of a petition, organized by the non-partisan nonprofit Environmental Working Group, that was signed by over 100,000 consumers, Time reports. For Revlon's part, they know this will transform them "from one of the industry's laggards to a safe cosmetics leader," their statement said.
