Many of the objects from the Royal Collection will be on public display for the first time.
A themed trail around the castle will end in the Waterloo Chamber, the 100ft-long room purpose built in 1830 to showcase paintings of the protagonists in Wellington’s defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Kate Heard, one of the curators of the exhibition, said: “We can see from these maps and drawings that the Duke of Wellington chose well when he decided where he would meet Napoleon’s army.
