We’ve all seen how Lex Luthor just keeps getting kryptonite over, and over again, however the whole kryptonite idea came from the Superman radio series and not the comic book! When Bud Collyer, who played Superman on the live radio series wanted a vacation, the writers invented kryptonite to incapacitate him for a few days and so that he could enjoy his vacation! Also, the identity of Colley remained a secret from 1940 to 1946, until the character of Superman was used in a promotional campaign for racial and religious tolerance and Collyer did a Time magazine interview about the campaign.
