An exhibition destined for the National Garden of Athens backed by the Greek collector and entrepreneur Dimitris Daskalopoulos has sparked controversy in Greece. The arts non-profit NEON, established by Daskalopoulos, aims to mount a two-month-long outdoor display organised by Iwona Blazwick, the director of the Whitechapel Gallery in London at the historic site. But the initiative has been on hold since a local advocacy group, Friends of the National Garden, went to court to block the project in Greece’s High Court in November 2013.
