ABC's latest stab at a musical series, Galavant -- a sometimes bawdy medieval tale that tips its cap to Monty Python's Spamalot! but with even funnier songs -- opened to solid ratings, pulling in 7.9 million viewers with its first half-hour episode on Jan. 4 and 6.8 million in its second, according to Nielsen. Now, the goal is getting viewers to embrace the tunes of Alan Menken, 65, and Glen Slater, 46, which soundtrack the show's eight episodes airing over four weeks.
