Australian indie artist Chet Faker has taken out Triple J's annual Hottest 100 countdown.
The number one song is played every year on the evening of Australia Day, after a day-long countdown generally accompanied by beers, mates and a blow-up pool. Over 3,829 Hottest 100 parties are held in 80 countries around the world on Jan. 26, Australian time, according to Triple J.
As the national day comes to a close, the best tracks of 2014 — voted by the alternative radio station's audience — are finally in the public sphere, putting many a rowdy pub argument to bed.
