Sundance: Indiegogo Touts Crowdfunding Record for 'Dear White People' — variety.com

Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo announced that Sundance award winner “Dear White People,” which raised its initial production funds on Indiegogo, has broken the U.S. domestic box office record for a crowdfunded film. Since its opening on Oct. 17, the comedy has grossed $4.4 million domestically for Roadside Attractions. The former record-holder was Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here” with $3.6 million for Focus following its July release.
