Some product designs whack you across the face with their weirdness. A lot of them, like the Pontiac Aztek, prove too weird for most people to accept. But a few of them, like the Honda Element, succeed because of their weirdness.
Bowers & Wilkins’ new $349 T7 Bluetooth speaker is definitely in the latter category.
The T7 is such a design-driven piece it’s hard to believe it comes from a storied, nearly 50-year-old audio company like B&W. Surrounding the speaker is a transparent honeycomb structure. They say the honeycomb strengthens the design to reduce spurious vibrations, and I’m sure it does, but it also makes the T7 much larger than it needs to be.
