Folks, it’s time for you to head to the store and pick up a frame because you’re going to want the cover of this month’s New York Magazine hung on your wall. Legendary musician and folk icon Joni Mitchell is on it, and she looks as cool as you would expect somebody who’s spent 71 years being awesome might look.
The cover story, titled “Joni Mitchell, Unyielding: Singer, muse, implacable autobiographer,” details several aspects of the “folk goddess” and her life, including her recent campaign with Yves Saint Laurent and the fact that she’s been ill for eight years with Morgellons, described by Joni as a “weird, incurable disease that seems like it’s from outer space.” You would never know from looking at her in these portraits by photographer Norman Jean Ray that she’s sick, however, because she looks absolutely incredible.
