LOS ANGELES — It's not like Comedy Central was caught off guard — the network already has a vague idea of what the future of The Daily Show might look like. That Jon Stewart has been getting, in his own words, "restless," is a reality that Comedy Central has been reckoning with for a while. And by the time he announced Tuesday night that he would leave before the year was over, the network had already been kicking around a shortlist of potential candidates to replace him — a decision over which Stewart will have some influence.
