For Epix and the NHL, a new documentary series they've partnered on is more than just another piece of content — and more than initially meets the eye. Rather, it's a match made in heaven for North America's pro hockey league and the premium TV network launched in 2009.
On one side, the NHL is looking to use Epix's digitally savvy model to serve its fans, who are more tech-oriented than those who follow other leagues. On the other side, Epix hopes partnering with the NHL to reach those fans, who are also more affluent that those of other sports, will help turn some of them into full-time subscribers.
