John Cameron Mitchell, who wrote Hedwig and directed (and starred in) a film version of the musical, was similarly enthusiastic: "I've got a grin plastered on my face that Darren is joining the brotherhood of Hedwigs," he said. "His stage presence is electrifying, his rock and roll credentials and comic timing impeccable."
