Harley-Davidson is the most popular make of motorcycles in the world but the bestselling brand last year was the globally lesser known Indian brand, Royal Enfield, with plans to dominate the mid-size motorcycle segment globally.
Royal Enfield, owned by India’s busmaker Eicher Motors, is the world’s oldest continuously manufactured brand of motorcycles. Launched in England in 1901, its production there ended in 1970 but picked up in India where it is currently thriving.
