There are many fantastic underwater encounters to tempt thrill seekers in US waters – scuba diving alongside nurse sharks through the reefs of the Florida Keys, snorkeling with sea lions off the coast of La Jolla and cage-diving with great whites during boat trips from San Francisco to the Farallon Islands, to name a few. But for one of the greatest marine life run-ins of them all, it's worth hopping a few planes to the small town of Andenes — just above the Arctic Circle at 69 degrees north latitude in Northern Norway — for the chance to get in the water with the ocean's apex predator, the orca.
