There are many fantastic underwater encounters to tempt thrill seekers in US waters – scuba diving alongside nurse sharks through the reefs of the Florida Keys, snorkeling with sea lions off the coast of La Jolla and cage-diving with great whites during boat trips from San Francisco to the Farallon Islands, to name a few.
