James Mangold is directing the adaptation of John D. MacDonald’s novel for Fox, with Chernin Entertainment producing alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran for their Appian Way shingle and Amy Robinson. The film is based on the first of MacDonald’s 21 books chronicling the misadventures of Travis McGee (Bale), a "salvage consultant" residing in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
