The Very Best’s “Let Go” isn’t your standard-issue 8-bit-inspired music video. While it has all the fun and side-scrolling action of an 8-bit video, the clip for the indie duo’s new track also has something else: It was made out of beads.
Crafted by Swedish artist Pappas Parlor, the “Let Go” video (premiering above) took more than a month to make by meticulously arranging pixel beads—aka those little doo-dads that you used to form into patterns and fuse together with a clothes iron. “We talked to him about doing an old-school 8-bit game type video with all the characters and landscape being made out of pixel beads and giving the impression of stop motion filming,” says Very Best’s Johan Hugo.
