Privacy was a theme bubbling under the surface at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow — even more so than last year when Silent Circle and Geeksphone grabbed attention with demos of a privacy-centric smartphone called Blackphone. This year they were back with a sequel device, Blackphone 2, and a plan to release a tablet, under the moniker Blackphone+. Now wholly owned by Silent Circle, the Blackphone team was also touting a suite of enterprise-focused encrypted apps and services, flush with $50M in new financing.
