In my house, we had grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. We sometimes had them for dinner. Even for breakfast, Mom would make cheese toast, basically an open-faced grilled cheese sandwich, which I only ate when there was bacon on top.
Mom was very particular about the cheese. Never slices of American, which was for hamburgers only. Or Velveeta, which we only started to have in the house when Ro-tel dip came along.
