An alleged shooting at rapper Lil Wayne's Miami Beach home, which sent officers rushing to the scene to investigate a phoned-in report claiming four people had been shot, has been classified as a swatting; this means false information attracted an emergency response.
The Wednesday phone call was a hoax, Miami Beach Police Department confirmed on Twitter. It wrote, "MBPD handles all calls of this nature in a serious manner," and ended the tweet with "#Swatting" because authorities in 2015 are so into hashtags.
