These old pictures show the interior of a historic Liverpool cinema being demolished to make way for a discount supermarket. The Art Deco style former Curzon Cinema in Prescot Road, Old Swan, will be knocked down later this month and replaced with a Home Bargains store. Images providing a fascinating insight into how the former cinema used to look have been collated by website Picturepalace.org. A description on the site says: “The building was adorned with neon which drew attention to the contours of the building and was most beautiful when this effect was combined with the lighting inside the large, gently curved tower. The tower contained many patterned lenses which reflected and diffused light.”
