Gwyneth Paltrow reminds me of The Last Unicorn, in which to escape a great evil the last unicorn was transformed into a beautiful, willowy blonde woman who had no idea how people worked. She had to blend into the world as a beautiful noblewoman who could not understand human struggles or feelings, and eventually she learned to feel love and regret and was changed forever. Gwyneth is sort of like that, except instead of learning about love and loss, she just developed a pathological fear of gluten and a conviction that it is possible for a person to physically change the crystal structure of ice cubes by being mean to water. But in spite of all that, Gwyneth says she’s just a regular gal. A “common woman” if you will.
