Wagyu & Wine at The Capital Grille | Tracy Kaler's New York Life + Travel.. — tracysnewyorklife.com

New York City burger fans – it’s that time again. Wagyu & Wine at The Capital Grille is back. For just $25, you can indulge in a gourmet burger and a glass of world-class wine in the lounge area of The Capital Grille. Choose from one of three mouthwatering wagyu burgers (known for their rich, buttery flavor) and three wines crafted by the Antinori family, an empire dating back more than 600 years. Advanced Sommelier Brian Phillips selected three world-class wines to pair with these yummy burgers. Here’s the lineup with suggested pairings! (You can, however choose any wine to go with any burger.) Caprese-Style Wagyu Burger  With Heirloom Tomato, 15-year Aged Balsamic and Fresh Mozzarella Pair it with a glass of Villa Antinori, Chianti Classico Riserva, Tuscany, 2013, an Old World Sangiovese (91 points Wine Enthusiast). Wagyu Cheeseburger  With Havarti and Aged Vermont White Cheddar Pair it with a glass of Antica, Atlas Peak, Napa Valley, 2014, New World Cabernet Sauvignon (93 points James Suckling). Caramelized Onion Wagyu Burger With Grand Cru Gruyère and Shallot Aioli Pair it with a glass of Col Solare, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2014,  New World Cabernet Sauvignon (94+ points Wine Advocate). Last week, I tried this special myself and was not disappointed. Can you guess which burger I went with?  I chose the caramelized onion burger! I loved it with a glass of Col Solare Cabernet, but I enjoyed all three wines, and any would pair well with this burger. If you have a hankering for a big, juicy burger, stop into Capital Grill before November 18 to take advantage of this fantastic (and delicious) special. After the 18th, you can order the restaurant’s Signature Cheeseburger (a blend of short rib, chuck and brisket by Pat LaFrieda, with candied applewood-smoked bacon and Vermont cheddar), anytime in the lounge or during lunch in the restaurant ($21). Wine, of course, is additional. You won’t be able to purchase these three wines by the glass as they’re only sold by the bottle. Villa Antinori, Chianti Classico Riserva, Tuscany, 2013 is $68/bottle; Antica, Atlas Peak, NapaValley, 2014 is sold for $125/bottle, and Col Solare, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2014 is sold by $115/bottle. The Capital Grille offers a superb selection of other wines by the bottle and some excellent wines by the glass. Visit any of the three Capital Grille locations in New York City to take advantage Wagyu & Wine. Time Warner Building, 120 W 51st St Wall Street, 120 Broadway Chrysler Building, 155 E 42nd St Or, if you can’t make it to NYC before November 18, head to a Capital Grille location near you. As the website states, “Reservations not required. Repeat visits encouraged.” (And on a side note, the fries are incredible!) Also, a burger battle, and the best barbecue in the city.  Plus, six New York wines to try. And Italian wine-tasting!
