I worked full-time shift work, walked and danced socially. Trying to survive with my Healthy Living. To perform at the Gala ball, involved a step up with core strength. After weeks of intense practising at the dance studio, my overused ITB (Iliotibial Band) said no more. Change from the rat race Being no longer part of the debilitating shift work allowed me to focus even more on my overall health and wellbeing. Great, as my injury required special care. I was advised by a physiotherapist to ease back on the walking and stop dancing for 6 months. A prescribed leisurely walk to my Pilates class and back was as much as I could do. Pilates The Pilates classes were increased from two to four a week and modified to be gluteal focused. Joining in the pregnancy classes that were steered that way as well would be added help. I added a few massages and 5 sessions in a magnesium float tank that swiftly moved the tension in the muscles away and eased the pain. The main ongoing daily support factor though was the stretching and releasing. The releasing using a foam roller is so beneficial. Ever felt that no matter how you stretch you still had knots in your tight muscles? The definition of a muscle release is sustained pressure on a knot, at a specific angle, held for a minute or two. Rejuvenated Health I now retain my classes four times a week and continue with the stretching and releasing to be pain-free. The difference is unbelievable. This basic routine supports my travel. Sitting on an aircraft travelling long-haul isn’t the best for your health, however, there is so much you can do to arrive in peak condition and the airlines want that too. They provide you with options for healthy food or take your own as mentioned previously. Drink plenty of water, partake in their exercise options for on board and when you arrive at your destination, unpack your suitcase access your travel roller (I use Michele Bridges cost $10) and if you don’t have one its easy to roll up a hotel towel, stretch and release. You are now ready for all the reasons you are at your destination.
