Last checked: Feb 2nd, 2022 | By: Iulia Notaros I won’t blame you if you walk by Sport Bisztró, assume it to be the glorified canteen of the BVSC sports facilities sprawling around it, and then walk on. I used to do that too for quite a while. Then, one time, I wanted to watch a game in a place that’s not ridiculously central, hence ridiculously crowded, and decided to give it a try. I wish I had done it sooner! Getting there might sound complicated (beyond the rails, by the swimming pool, in the wilderness) but it’s in fact only five minutes away from the Mexikói út stop of Metro line 1. The crowd is certainly dominated by people who are somehow connected to the sports facilities- athletes, team staff, parents ferrying their children to training sessions. There is a pleasant familiarity to the atmosphere, the feeling that this is a reliable, well-oiled place which ties its community together. Yet they don’t take goodwill for granted: a healthy mind in a healthy body needs proper food to nourish it, and the choices are excellent, a wide range of pizzas being complemented by a regularly changing assortment of main dishes, often Hungarian staples with an Italian twist. Last but not least, the place also perfectly fulfills its function as a sports bar for the discerning fan: there are several screens and, during big games, people can get passionate yet never over the top. And somehow a nice plate of ravioli makes even the worst matches more bearable.
