One of my favourite book ever. Breathtaking, intense and captivating. It makes me think so much about the true meaning of revenge and its moral implications: we use to say "forgive and forget" . Montecristo doesn't forgive, but above all, he doesn't forget. I wonder, sometimes, if it is really possibile to leave behind what hurted us very much (not implying that we have to seek for revenge everytime someone does us wrong! ) or if the famous "payback" it's just a way to convince ourselves that we can recover sooner, and better. And what about the relation between revenge and justice? So many questions, just a few answers. I've enjoyed every single word of this book.
