Big Stone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of 2010, the population was 5,269. Its county seat is Ortonville. According to the 2000 census, the county has a total area of 527.88 square miles (1,367.2 km), of which 496.95 square miles (1,287.1 km) (or 94.14%) is land and 30.93 square miles (80.1 km) (or 5.86%) is water.
