Jimbo Kern (sometimes portrayed as Kerns) is a recurring character in the animated series South Park. Voiced by series co-creator Matt Stone, he is also commonly known simply as Uncle Jimbo, being uncle to Stan Marsh. Earlier episodes indicated him to be the brother of Stan's mom Sharon, but an interview with Stone established him as the half-brother of Stan's father, Randy, though their fraternal relationship is rarely explored on the show. Jimbo is a Vietnam veteran and gun enthusiast, owning a local firearms store and leading an outdoors lifestyle. He is often accompanied by his war buddy Ned Gerblansky. Jimbo frequently keeps company with the town's working-class citizens, and often expresses a blue-collar point of view during the show's frequent satire of both liberal and conservative politics. Jimbo and Ned were inspired by characters series co-creator Trey Parker used to draw during high school.
Jimbo's most prominent appearances in the series were in the early episodes "Volcano" and "The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka", where most of his background was established. He served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, attaining the rank of sergeant. It was in Da Nang
