On her birthday, she is given a laptop and is thrilled about it. Meeting a 16-year-old boy named Charlie (Chris Henry Coffey) in an online chat room, she seemingly connects with him. Over time, as the two bond by sending phone text messages and IM'ing, he bumps his age up to 20, then 25. Annie, however, dismisses these concerns. She continues the relationship, not wanting to end things with him because of how he makes her feel good about herself such as calling her "beautiful.
