GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Luis Alexander Basabe, ranked as the White Sox No. 9 by MLB Pipeline, sustained a broken hamate bone in his left hand during batting practice on Monday at Camelback Ranch and he will have surgery on Wednesday in Chicago.
The switch-hitting outfielder will be out 4 to 6 weeks, and he's expected to be back in baseball mode in 12 weeks. The hamate bone will be removed during the surgery.
