Tahliah Barnett, better known as FKA twigs, is a British musician and dancer originally from Gloucestershire and currently based in London. The "FKA" stands for Formerly Known As. She has Jamaican and Spanish ancestry. Twigs self-released her music debut, EP on Bandcamp on 4 December 2012. She posted a video for each song on her YouTube channel. On 1 August 2013 Twigs posted the video for her first single, "Water Me", on YouTube. The video was directed by Jesse Kanda. On 6 August 2013 The Guardian profiled Twigs for their "New band of the day" feature, describing her as 'The UK's best example to date of ethereal, twisted R&B.' Twigs' second EP, EP2, was released on Young Turks on 10 September 2013. It was produced by FKA twigs and Arca. Pitchfork gave EP2 a rating of 8/10. In December 2013, she was nominated for BBC's Sound of 2014 prize and chosen by Spotify for their Spotlight on 2014 list. Twigs was featured in Billboard's "14 Artists to Watch in 2014". In April 2014, FKA Twigs appeared on the cover of The Fader in its 91st issue. FKA Twigs' debut album, LP1, will be released on Young Turks on 12 August 2014.
