Into the Woods is an upcoming musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall and written by James Lapine. Based on the eponymous Broadway musical by Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, the film is a fantasy genre crossover centered on a childless couple, who set out to end a curse placed on them by a vengeful witch. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, the film will be released on December 25, 2014 and will star Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine.
Rehearsals for the film began on August 7, 2013. The film began principal photography at London's Shepperton Studios in September 2013, with filming taking place at Dover Castle.
